Geelong Synthetic blitz for Tycoon Peri
May 09, 2014
Tycoon Peri is set for a big campaign after the two-year-old showed the benefit of a break to thrash her rivals on the Geelong Synthetic track.
The filly showed plenty of talent in her two solid runs at Caulfield in the summer before trainer Ken Keys gave her extra time to strengthen during the autumn.
Keys’s strategy paid off as Tycoon Peri stripped an improved filly for the Join The Briesis Club Maiden Plate (1000m).
Lincoln Coffey travelled to Geelong to ride the daughter of Written Tycoon in her first-up effort and Tycoon Peri’s performance made the trip worthwhile.
She bounced quickly from barrier six and strode across to the inside rail to quickly establish control of the $17,500 contest.
Tycoon Peri travelled beautifully for Coffey before opening a good break on her opposition when the jockey gave her a little more rein early in the straight.
Her rivals could only get within 3-½ lengths of Tycoon Peri on the line but Coffey stopped riding about 50m from the finish.
Adding to the stable’s thrill was the fact Tycoon Peri was bred by Ken’s wife Louise.
Tycoon Peri’s maiden success earned connections $16,800 in prizemoney and bonuses and showed she has the talent to produce many more wins.
Congratulations to all involved in Tycoon Peri’s victory.
