LIghtenuff does it again at Moonee Valley
Jun 21, 2014
Lightenuff proved himself the horse that keeps on giving with his determined Moonee Valley victory.
The six-year-old is a homebred for Ken Keys and his wife Louise but has been a terrific money-spinner throughout his 47-start career.
The son of Lago Delight posted his eighth win and took his earnings to more than $235,000 with his maiden Saturday city success.
But Lightenuff’s previous deeds already ensured he carried a special place in the Keys household.
"He’s a beauty, a real family horse,” Keys said.
"He wins a nice race every preparation and he’s even paid for two daughters weddings.”
Finesse played no part in Lightenuff’s win with the handy galloper calling on every ounce of his bravery in the straight.
Jockey Jackie Beriman took Lightenuff to the early lead but the pair were pestered throughout the early and middle stages by a couple of outsiders on their outside.
Lightenuff was left in front when her company dropped off approaching the home turn and would have had a genuine excuse had he weakened late in the race.
However, Lightenuff showed plenty of heart in the straight as he held off multiple challenges to score by three-quarters of a length.
Congratulations to all concerned with the grand galloper’s latest win.
