Our Kaboom scores maiden city win

Rises in class and distance proved no obstacle to Our Kaboom posting second win in three starts in the Grand Hotel Frankston Handicap at Sandown.
Our Kaboom blitzed his rivals in heavy ground at Traralgon on June 24 before taking his form to town to score over 1300 metres on a slow track.
Lincoln Coffey had partnered the youngster at his previous two outings and his knowledge of the rising three-year-old proved handy again as he sent Our Kaboom straight to the lead in the $35,000 contest.
Coffey rated Our Kaboom perfectly, never giving the backmarkers a chance, which left only Congress with a hope of running him down in the straight.
However, Our Kaboom was too strong for his rival in the final stages, recording his maiden city win by a half-length.
"His mother was a swimmer so this bloke was well suited out there today,” Coffey said.
“(Congress’s jockey) Michael (Walker) pressed me hard from the home turn but mine found plenty, let's hope he can go on from here."
Ken Keys’s daughter and assistant trainer Kasey Keys said Our Kaboom has thrived with an increased workload as his preparation has developed.
"We're really happy with him and he's shown us a lot. We'll just keep stepping up and see if he copes,” Keys said.
The son of Kaphero was an $80,000 yearling purchase but his latest win took his earnings to more than $45,000 in stakes and bonuses.
Congratulations to all involved with Our Kaboom’s latest win.
